Stomp Test (originally from here )
Updated: Sunday, 21 March 2010 02:39
Picked up a 1991 BMW E30, equipped with a 16v M42 engine, E30 M3 springs/shocks, 4.10 LSD rear, 5-spd Getrag transmission, super sprint exhaust, BBS Basketweave wheels, and MarkD chip. It didn't have A/C, but after deleting the power-steering I decided that installing some cold air for the heat of the summer would be a great idea - I don't regret that decision in the least. You can consider this page some sort of work log... or something? For myself, as well as any other e30 enthusiasts.
Above, the car not too long after I bought it - while mostly stock, I really really hated the smoked tailights. I don't mind the look,
so much as the fact that the process for smoking them was reversing, and coincidentally started to crack as well as splinter.
I replaced them with two from Everret's Auto here in Massachusetts in an effort to make the car appear closer to factory
appearance; I'm a huge fan of the sleeper look as well, understated but packing quite a wallop to reserve for special occasions.
This winter, I picked up a set of 16" Sport Edition wheels with Bridgestone Blizzacks mounted to replace the 14" BBS Basketweaves
the car had originally. The car needed 15mm H&R 4x100 alloy spacers and HMS kindly provided the 43mm aftermarket studs to
accommodate the extra rubber. Eventually, I'll have a picture of all that - I've been having far too much fun in the snow with
all that added grip :)
Here the car is as of November 18, 2009 - with the (now) stock tail-lights instead of the smoked tails. This is obviously
while the iS badge was left, looks out of place - around this time I also had the exhaust re-mounted, now no vibration
at the rear cut-out :)
Below, the proper e30 badge mounted:

This winter the blizzacks proved to be unstoppable, the amount of grip it gives you on the ice is unbelievable,
not quite nokian hakkapelittta's but any more grip would make it tough to kick the tail out hard in the snow ;)
With H&R 15mm alloy wheel spacers, here's the car's current stance - ignore the absurd amount of road salt and grime
running along the sides.
